In School Bowls

Many Bowling Clubs do not have the facilities to cope with large groups of children.
This program provides a welcomed alternative for both Clubs and Schools by using purpose designed 'hard-court' bowls which can be used on a multitude of surfaces including asphalt courts, polished floor boards, concrete quadrangles etc.

The Program provides a perfect opportunity for clubs to find those kids with a bit of talent and potentially increase membership. Projected figures show that by the end of 2009, the In School Bowls Program will have gone through 80,000 kid’s hands in just two years.

The program has a 5 week step by step session guide for teachers to follow, and provides kids with some of the most valuable bowls skills for when they step onto the green.

The Kit includes 30 bowls, mats, targets, barriers, bowling guides and flap jacks. It is easily transported in two hard covered boxes and two carry bags and is valued at $7000.

The Bowl is made of a rubber compound, with a Velcro band around the surface. The Bowls are size ones and have been used with kids as young as 6.

Over the last 12 months our In School Bowls Program has been introduced to 42 schools, with over 30,000 school age kids getting their hands on a bowl and gaining a life skill.

The program is not restricted to schools and in the last three months of the year is available for retirement villages, community centres, youth centres and clubs.

Bowls NSW are also in the process of designing a program that will cater for bowlers with disabilities and have had some keen interest so far.

To sponsor the program for the 5 week period is $250.
